Trip to Greece: Day 4 & 5 God’s Providence
Trip to Greece: Day 4 & 5 God’s Providence
Day 4 Tuesday, I went to the History of Archaeological Museum and it was stunning. Saw the figures of Augustus, Hadrian, Titus, Nero, and many others. At first, I thought cameras weren’t allowed and was hesitant to take the pictures. However, when I saw that someone else was taking pictures, I just kept on shooting at every object that didn’t move. was going go to the Christian Byzantine Museum, however I had to catch a train at 11am to Thessalonica. I was going to meet with my friends there from Macedonia and the train took longer then expected. I arrived around 4pm. My feet were killing me the whole time, having blisters and callus being built. I hurried and booked a room and went to meet with my friends. It was wonderful meeting my friends that I haven’t met for 8 months or so. These were my friends whom I met in Six Flags Magic Mountain. We went to see the Tower and went to this shopping mall (they came to shop since there country, Macedonia, don’t have shopping mall like this). I wanted to buy shoes or sandals, but their price was ridiculous. So I suffered much with my feet constantly throughout this vacation. It was about 10pm and we started to feel tired. I went back to my place and they went to their friend’s house. As my feet were constantly in pain, the Lord had given a time of rest and peaceful night.
Day 4 Wednesday, we went around the place that looked like downtown LA, with lots of stores and after that we went next to the beach where the whole strip was full of cafes. The view was exceptional; I haven’t seen such in my hometown. The price of the coffee was pricy. My friends told the waitress that they wanted ice coffee. But having to misunderstand, the waitress brought them Irish coffee (alcohol and coffee). Every time they drank their facial expression made me laugh. I ordered espresso and also Greek coffee. We stayed there for maybe two hours and the scene was just too amazing for us to leave. But we had another hour and half for our trains to depart. We were hungry so we went to a Gyro place. The pita was so amazing; I just wish I could’ve imported thousand of them. Our trains were to depart at 4pm and I decided to go to Athens and take the train to Corinth. By this time, the arrival to Greece, getting lost in finding my hotel, the man that took me to places, and the arrival to Thessalonica was tiresome. But I had soon forgotten such incidents. I arrived to Athens around 12 am and as soon as I got to the ticketing booth and they told me departing to Corinth leaves in 4 minutes. So I ran and went to the train. As we departed I fell asleep (never doing that again). As soon as I opened my eyes I saw the words “to Korinthos”. Thinking that this was Corinth I left and I was at a place where the lights were far away from this station. Believing it to be Corinth I started to walk away from the station. I was crying to the Lord if He can help me, since all the towns looked like it was more than an hour away from the station. I realized I should’ve asked the person at the station (only one person working), so I went back walking. My feet were hurting so much I was going to give up and just sit down. The police came and stopped. I asked them where is Corinth, they were perplexed and they said you are in Asporagos (I forgot how to spell the name). It was about 30 km away from Corinth. I asked them to take me back to the station but they weren’t willing. It was about 5 minutes away (I walked pretty far). I asked the person on duty to call cab for me. The cab was charging me 7 euros for him to come to the station, at this point I was too tired to argue. I had 60 euros and he said it wasn’t enough, but I begged him and he was willing to take that much. He used his gps and dropped me off at the Korintho station. Yet, this station was closed down (not knowing till the next day), I started to look for rooms and found a nice little hotel to stay and said, thank you Lord and went to sleep.
